Michael Depp is working on a book, The End of Easy, about life in post-Katrina New Orleans. His essays, articles and reviews have appeared in numerous places including Poets & Writers, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Time Out, McSweeney's, Food & Wine, The Splendid Table, Flak Magazine and Retort Magazine. He is a regular commentator for National Public Radio's "All Things Considered," and has been a Reuters correspondent for the past seven years. Michael is editor-at-large of The Louisiana Weekly, New Orleans' oldest African-American newspaper, and is the former editor of the paper's sister company, West Indies Publishing, where he oversaw ten publications including in-flight magazines for regional Caribbean airlines. His work also appears in several books including The Practical Writer: From Inspiration to Publication (Penguin), Time Out New Orleans (Penguin) and The Dictionary of Literary Biography: American Short Story Writers Since World War II (Gale). An adjunct professor of journalism at Tulane University, he holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in English literature. He lives in New Orleans with his wife, his new baby, Jude, and a menagerie of animals. |
